Where Did Harry Potter Get The Mirror In The Movie

"This is a two-mode mirror, I've got the other one of the pair. If you demand to speak to me, just say my name into information technology; you'll appear in my mirror and I'll be able to talk in yours."

A two-way mirror was one in a pair of mirrors that were magically connected. This immune people to communicate with each other whilst in different locations.^[i]

History

During their years in school, James Potter and Sirius Blackness used a pair of 2-way mirrors and so they could talk to each other while they were in separate detentions. Sirius later gave James's mirror to Harry in 1996.^[1] After Sirius' death, his mirror came into the possession of Mundungus Fletcher, who sold it to Aberforth Dumbledore.^[iii]

Harry smashed his mirror in 1996, after finding that he could not contact Sirius's spirit using it, since Sirius did not have his mirror with him when he died.^[1] In 1997, earlier Harry left the Dursleys' house, he emptied his schoolhouse trunk and cut his right band finger twice on a shard of the mirror.^[4] Despite the apparent uselessness of this shard, Harry kept information technology with him in his mokeskin pouch during his search for Voldemort'southward Horcruxes.^[5]

Aberforth'southward possession of i of the two-way mirrors became a peachy help to Harry and his companions in 1998. After being kidnapped by the Snatchers and brought to Malfoy Manor, Hermione was tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange, who wanted to know how Godric Gryffindor's Sword had come up into their possession. Experiencing no success with his Gilded Snitch and his cleaved phoenix wand, Harry grabbed the mirror shard and saw a gleam of bright blueish heart and thought that it was Dumbledore'southward. He called for help, and Aberforth managed to send Dobby to rescue them.^[3] ^[2] Harry later discovered that it was Aberforth with whom he could communicate with in the mirror and who saved them from Malfoy Manor, when he, Ron and Hermione took shelter inside the Hog'southward Caput Inn, Aberforth'south pub in Hogsmeade.^[ii]

During the Cataclysm, which affected the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy in the 2010s, ii-way mirrors were turned into Foundables during the Calamity, which later had to be returned past volunteer members of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force.^[6]

The mirror does not appear straight in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, just Harry and his friends come across Aberforth ownership it from Mundungus Fletcher.
When Sirius gives Harry the mirror in a badly wrapped package, Harry vows to himself he will never use it, not wanting to lure Sirius from his identify of rubber. Ironically, if he had used it rather than Dolores Umbridge's fire to contact his godfather, Kreacher would not have been able to lie to Harry almost where Sirius was, and thus Harry would never have gone to the Department of Mysteries and Sirius would not accept died. This unhappy truth does not seem to occur to Harry in the novel (and the mirror is not in the film version), though arguably, he needs no more reasons to lay blame for Sirius's expiry at that point. Also, there is no fashion of knowing if using the mirror would accept helped, unless Sirius kept it on his person at all times.
The mirror could perhaps be overjoyed with a Protean Charm, like the one used by Hermione on the Dumbledore's Army Galleons, or at least a variation of the same spell.
The 2-way mirror was never seen in the films before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Office ane, and its origin and significance are not explained. These are explained in Part 2.
2-way mirrors may be considered a subtype of enchanted mirrors.
Phineas Nigellus Black was cut from the picture show adaptations of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Hence, it is unclear how Severus Snape constitute Harry and Hermione in the Forest of Dean. Since Harry was looking at the mirror shard before Snape'southward Patronus appeared, and the within of the Hog's Head was seen, the nearly likely explanation is that Aberforth was working with Snape, and that Albus may take told him of Snape'southward true allegiance before he died.^[seven]
